Refined vs. Unrefined Salt
Is there a ‘ healthy’ salt?
Let’s do a salt check! Chances are you have a bottle of Morton Iodized Salt or some other white table salt in your pantry. It is well known that too much salt can cause high blood pressure due to excess water retention. High blood pressure can lead to heart attack and stroke, along with other harmful effects on the body.
The problem with salts like Morton Iodized Salt, is that they are very processed and refined. There are two kinds of salt; refined and unrefined. Refined salt goes through heavy chemical processing and is stripped of all of its nutrients. Iodine is added back in, but it is often not not substantial enough for the body, which could lead to endocrine issues and other health problems .Read here to learn a little more! Refined salt is also exposed to bleach.
If you are eating salt for iodine, unless you are eating unrefined salt, you’re not going to get it. Unrefined salt is the way to go!!
What are the benefits of unrefined salt?
Unrefined salt is considered a whole food and easily absorbed by the body. Unrefined salt contains minerals and con provide certain trace minerals. There are few different unrefined salts that contain trace minerals depending on their origin, including Real Salt, Celtic Sea Salt, and Pink Himalayan Salt.
Another amazing added benefit of unrefined salt is the taste. I’ve tried the Real Salt and the Celtic Salt! I prefer the Celtic Salt over the Real Salt, only because I thought the Real Salt was a tad bit gritty. It wasn’t noticeable enough that I wouldn’t use it, I just prefer the Celtic!!
Natural unrefined salt has SO many benefits. Did you know that it can even help clear congestion by clearing mucus and phlegm from the lungs!! It can also help regulate heartbeat and prevent cancer. Read here for more information! Once you do your research, I promise you that you will never go back to regular salt!
