This flavor packed Italian Sausage Pepper Sandwich is saucy and sweet and filled with delicious onions and peppers! These easy to make subs are a good make-ahead for parties or gatherings! This is one of our go-to recipes for game-day! It is easy to prep ahead and then throw in the oven an hour before you want it!  The sausage is literally bursting with your very first bite. This sub is not overly loaded with ingredients, so the bold flavors come out. This is a hit in our house year round!

This recipe was handed us down to us by Coni! I cook for her son quite often, but her recipes always go above and beyond anything we can prepare! The simplicity of this recipe is what makes it amazing! The flavors really come through. In regards to this sandwich, less is more! However you could always add mushrooms or cheese or any other creative toppings that come to mind!

What you need to make these Italian Sausage Pepper Sandwiches:

5 Sweet Italian Sausage

4 multi-color bell peppers

olive oil

sea salt (the only one I use)

ground pepper (the only one I use)

oregano

28 oz can whole peel tomatoes

A short ingredient list and a step-by-step method create these Italian Sausage Sandwiches. An easy choice for Super Bowl or a fun, easy to make meal any fun occasion. Sausage and peppers is a really basic yet incredibly tasty combo. It’s origins are American-Italian and can be served multiple different ways! In this recipe I am serving as a sandwich, but this could easily be paired with egg noodles, rice, potatoes….the possibilities are endless!!

How to make these Italian Sausage Pepper Sandwiches:

  1. Cut up 4 large multi-colored Bell Peppers and one large onion! And place on a large sheet of foil. Drizzle a little olive oil, salt, pepper and oregano over peppers and onions.
  2. Take a large can of whole peeled tomatoes and cut those up or squish them up buy hand. Pour on top of peppers and onions and use cooking tongs to evenly spread.
  3. Brown the sausage on the grill or in a skillet on the stove-give it some nice color, but don’t cook the sausage through.
  4. Put the sausage on top of the veggies/tomato mix. Seal it up in a foil pouch and bake for an hour at 375 degrees.

  • 5 Links Sweet Italian Sausage

  • 3/4 TBSP oregano (or more to taste)
  • 28oz can of whole peel tomatoes

Instructions
